Magic Items and Treasure Points

Magic Items and Treasure Point (TP)
Characters earn treasure points from adventures, then redeem those points in exchange for magic items. The list of available magic items we offer has been agreed to and compiled by the SCA staff. Gaining Treasure Points Each character earns treasure points based on an adventure's tier and its intended playing time:
  • 1 Treasure Point is awarded for every 2 hours played in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 adventure.
  • 1 Treasure Point is awarded for every 1 hour played in a Tier 3 or Tier 4 adventure.
  • If a character completes an adventure of a Tier higher than that Character's Tier, the Character receives 1 Additional Treasure Point for that adventure.
The SCA Staff also earns Treasure Points by helping out in the SCA community, check out the Staff Descriptions to see if you might be interested in volunteering as a way to earn extra treasure points. Staff Descriptions Spending Treasure Points Players are entitled to choose any item from our approved lists in their current tier. Treasure points can be spread across multiple items. Many items cost more treasure points than a character can earn in a 2- or 4-hour adventure. To buy such an item, a character can make a deposit, spending treasure points on the item until it's paid off, at which time the character gains the item.
  • Post these purchases in #paperwork like so: Almeshe buys a bag of holding for 4 tp.
  • Staff TP can also be spent this way but must be noted: Almeshe buys a wand of magic missiles for 4tp (staff).
  • Purchases can also be split between personal and staff TP: Almeshe buys a broom of flying for 2 personal tp and 4 staff tp.
Players can also choose any item of ONE-TIER ABOVE their current tier to deposit treasure points into. The number of items that can be "layaway-ed" in this particular manner is 3. The item(s) can have only half their cost in TP layaway-ed, until the character reaches a level in which they can finish purchasing the items at. Characters can 'bank' half their level (Round up) in Treasure points from Adventures. There is no Maximum to banked Treasure Points from Volunteer Staff Positions. Players may also make deposits to purchase additional Character Slots. The cost for which starts at 15 and raises by 5 until the Player has a total of eight character slots. The system for buying magic items is listed below: Tier 1 or higher -> Blue items=       4 TP Tier 1 or higher -> Green Items=    6 TP Tier 2 or higher -> Yellow items=    8 TP Tier 3 or higher -> Orange items= 10 TP Tier 4               -> Red items =     12 TP Black Items are not available for purchase in any way, as they are reserved for DM Award ONLY
-Admin Note-
We highly recommend all members keep track of their Treasure Points on a tracker or excel document and save it on the Cloud or on Google Drive. If your claim on a Magic Item or the number of Treasure Points comes into question, you could find yourself out the TP or Magic Items, if no record of your claim to the points or item exists. The link below is a Master list of AP and TP for all characters across the server, it is the server’s method of tracking TP. You may use it at your own risk, we are human and can make mistakes. Giving Magic Items as Gifts
Players can gift a magic item from one of their character to another Players character. Ex: Bhogg gives Charity a Ring of Animal Friendship as part of their wedding vow. The giving player must log in paperwork the gifting of said item to the character and it must be approved by a DM of the Tier of the Magic Item or Higher (not Probationary DM's). The item must have been logged on the giving players sheet and in paperwork at the time of Purchase and then logged on the gifted players sheet and in paperwork at the time of the giving. This must be verified by the approval DM. Players WILL NOT attempt to give one of their character a gift from another of their character. This includes giving an item by proxy; IE Bent gives Dvnt an item to give to one of Bent's other characters. If a player is caught doing this, it will results in a temporary ban from the community. Length to be determined based on offense. Gifts of Magic Items can happen 1 time per season or every 4 months, which ever is MORE. Players gifting things must give an in character reason as to why the gift is being given; there must be a Role Play reason for the gift. This can not be used to gain access to higher level gear then you would normally be able to buy.
Magic and Materials
Materials such as Mirthril and Adamantine are often used to create weapons and armor. An item that has a special material and magical enhancement follows these rules:
  • Increase the restriction level of the LOWEST cost item. (IE blue becomes green, Yellow becomes Orange.)
  • The tier restrictions of the HIGHEST colored level still applies. (If you want a +2 weapon, you must be tier 3 to buy it)
  • The cost is the TP total of the two items combined, after the above alteration, and must be bought as a single item. One cannot buy +1 Chainmail, then add Adamantine to it afterward. Bought together they would now both be Yellow items with a combined cost of 16tp.
  • The Ammunition, Armor, and Weapon Enhancements +1/+2/+3 are the only items that can be combined with Materials. Mithril can only be used in Armor.
