Discord-Forums-Foundry Rules & Usage

If you’ve made it here you’ve probably read a ton of stuff and still have no idea how to navigate in this community.  That's fair. This is where we break down our 3 platforms and what they should be used for.

Sword Coast Adventurers Forums: Long term Information

• Quest postings, Social invitations, and recent updates
• Server History, Noteworthy NPC and all Character profiles.
• Sanctioned Material, House Rules, Frequently Asked Questions
• Character Creation guidelines, Magic Items, Character Advancement
• Staff Resources and Staff Job Descriptions

Rules: 

• Any history or character information learned from the forums, must not be taken IN character. Basically, no metagaming. If you learn something interesting from the forums, your character can not just happen to ‘know’ this information. If you would like to add an item from our histories into your character background you will need to speak with a Lore Keeper.
• Follow the posting templates for any and all replies and posts on the forums.
• No foul language, if you can’t find a better way to say it, then it probably doesn’t need to be said.
• When posting a Character profile, please use a trigger warning on any graphic or possibly triggering information for the benefit of our staff. 

Sword Coast Adventurers Discord: In-Character Roleplay/Daily Information Tracking/ Out-of-Character Chats

• Important In-Character Announcements/ Updates
• Quest Party Selection, Scheduling & Reward posts
• Tracking: Gold, Adventure points, Treasure points, Lifestyle, Travel, and Downtime actions 
• In Character chats, and pregame  and postgame posts, roleplaying
• Bug fixes, mechanics, paperwork, server and rules questions
• Staff chats and messages
• Out of character chats: memes, cute animals, NSFW 
• Voice Adventure rooms for games and general chat

Rules:

• Follow Wheaton’s Rule: Don’t be a…
• You may use ANY language as long as it is used respectfully.
• Your handle must be changed to: YourName(Character's Name) Example: Mrs.Wiggy(Almeshe)
• Keep everything in the chats appropriate. Keep the filth in NSFW or the dungeon.
• You must ASK to be invited to NSFW and the Dungeon. You must have been active for more than 30 days to receive a Dungeon key.
• Use each room for what it is for. Roleplay rooms are for IC chat, and don’t clutter paperwork and tracking channels with extra chat.
• Roles are given at the discretion of the staff. Non-adventure is standard for anyone without an active character. Adventurer is standard for anyone with an active character. If you need a role let an @Admin know.
• If you have an issue with someone in or out of character, please let a @PeaceKeeper know.
• Be respectful of other people’s thoughts and feelings
• Please refrain from bringing up controversy with certain out-of-character topics like faith and politics.
• Help us ensure and safe and non-hostile Out of Character Environment for all.

Specific Voice Chat Rules:

• Follow the Dungeon Master's lead and refrain from arguing with the DM or other players over rules.
• Let other players speak, and allow other players to get attention from the DM.
• Avoid excessive conversation that is not relevant to the adventure.
• Make the DM or the campaign's administrators aware of disruptive or aggressive behavior so that appropriate action can be taken.
• If you choose to ‘listen in’ to a campaign you are not involved in, you may not speak during the game, only during breaks and after.
• Discourage others from using social media to bully, shame, or intimidate other participants.

Sword Coast Adventurers Foundry: Character tracking & Games

• Character Sheets
• Game play, dice rolling, and images for campaigns
• Personal Character Tracking and Setup.

Rules:

• Keep your characters sheets up to date, they can and will be checked multiple times. 
• If any items, gold, adventure points, or treasure points are questioned by staff, you must be able to provide evidence of its acquisition. Staff will audit the tracking logs to find proof of purchase. If not proof can be found you will be warned, and the item will be taken. Multiple incidents can get you banned
• It is your job to know your character, and to keep OOC and IN knowledge separate in games. No metagaming.
• If you are involved in an ongoing adventure, ie trapped in a dungeon until next game you cannot level up or use Treasure points or gold without the DM’s permission.
• Manage your spells and details BEFORE the game. You should have spells prepped, any items bought, and sheets set for each game. The DM does not have to wait on this.
• Stay on task during adventures. Or if you plan to join a quest in order to ‘derail’ it, let the DM know when you are picked.
• Roleplaying is welcome, however please respect the DMs game and be willing to wrap things up that are slowing down the quest.
