Birth:
Born to the Chieftan, Fodur Hofdingi, and Tjald Modir, Tent Mother of the Akannathi from Skytower Shelter in the Spine of the World. Blar grew up in the shadow of his father and in the eye of the tribe as the only son of the Chieftan, he was expected from a young age to be the best of the best. He was pushed and pressed by his father, and challeneged by others his age and older to prove himself. This pressure caused Blar to try and find ways to not be seen, making him shy and less boastful than other Goliath children. Blar's mother was the only person who wasn't constantly questioning his abilities. She saw the bar that had been set for him and wanted to protect him from failure. She constantly tried to remind his father of his young age and his inexperience, while also reminding Blar that he was loved and enough. Fodur saw the bond between them and considered that weakness. He blamed Tjald for the shyness that made him strange among the goliaths.
Childhood:
The intense pressure that followed Blar's early years led to his father, Fodur, the chieftan, to take him at the early age of 8 for his legendary hunt. The hunt that would prove to the tribe that Blar was old enough and strong enough to take an adult roll in the tribe. Tjald, his mother, challeneged Fodur's plan, once again stepping in for her son, she reasoned that no other children were expected to take on this for at least 2 more years. Fodur told her she would ruin him with her overprotectiveness. The tribe's second, a captain named Skipstjori Goliat, also agrued with Fodur against taking out young Blar, he told the chieftan that it was dangerous not only for him to take Blar at his young age, but that the quarry Fodur had chosen was too strong for even a party of their strongest warriors. Fodur silenced them both and still set out with Blar to kill Godsogn, a huge and vicious brown bear that the Akannathi belived to be inhabited by a warrior spirit of the forest. Skipstjori trailed the pair through the woods, intending to bare witness to the hunt and prevent any falsehoods from being spread. According to their traditions, Blar must strike the killing blow to suceed in his quest. If Blar was unable to strike the killing blow, and Fodur claimed otherwise, Skipstjori would be able to challenge Fodur's right to chieftan. Trust and honor are the foundations of the Akannathi's beliefs thus Fodur would be shamed into stepping down, and Skipstjori would become the next chieftan.
Skipstjori got his wish, he became chieftan, but not because Fodur stepped down. Godsogn, proved too strong for even the mighty Fodur. Blar, only 8, was not ready to face such a strong advesary, when the bear charged at him he stood frozen in fear. Fodur, who had always pushed his son realized that his son was in grave danger and threw himself in the bears path slashing with his great axe but also suffering a mortal wound. Fodur's hit to the bear was enough to send it running for safety of the deep wood, but not anywhere close to felling it. Fodur handed his son prized arrow necklace and bid Blar to go back to the tribe to train to become strong enough to avenge his death. Skipstjori however made it back to the tribe well before the young boy, he told the tribe of Blar's fear and inability to defend himself in the heat of the moment. Failure is a weakness a plague on the tribe, Skipstjori the new chieftan, cruely named Blar 'Kinless' before exiling him from the tribe.
Young Adult Life:
Exiled and alone with nothing to call his own but world around him. Nature became his mother, leaves and dirt holding him close as he tossed and turned trying to sleep. Predators trained him like his father once had, tough and unforgiving, striking at every weakness in him. He avoided people and towns, hiding his shame in the shadows of the wilderness, thus his communication skills suffered. He learned hard and fast lessons, gaining strength and skill with every kill, taking small trophies to assuage his worth. Even when Blar felt he was beginning to become the person his father invisioned him becoming, the memory of Godsogn mocked his efforts. Blar begrudged the bear his loneliness, he pledged to take his revenge and return to his tribe a sucess.
Seven long and hard years later, Blar 'Kinless' Bjorn sought out Godsogn. He found the bear and he mercilessly slashed and slammed his great axe into the beast. The bear refused to go down easliy striking scarring woulds to his face and chest before it finally succumed to the relentless goliath. VIctorious Blar raised the still warm and wet carcass over his back and shoulders and let out a vengeful cry that shook the wood around him and scattered animals for miles. The tribal markings of the Akannathi that covered his flesh began to burn and glow a light blue, in the same moment Godsogn's eyes become bright blue and the carcess erupted in matching blue symbols. The warrior spirit that inhabited Godsogn washed over Blar, granting him it's divine power. In that moment, the taking back of his future, his nemisis slain and dripping over him, that he realized it wasn't enough. He had proved that the beast that had taken his father was no match for him, but his other trophy's pailed in comparison. To have his tribe welcome him back he would need to prove not only was he capable of defeating Godsogn, but also that he had exceeded his father and the tribe's expectation's for him. He needed to test his skill and strength among others before he could be confident in his ability to rejoin his people.
Where you are today:
Now 20, Blar has ventured down from the spine of the world, testing his ability on new creatures and foes. He heard talk of giants causing wreckage in a forest near Mirabar, unable to standby while monsters trashed the beautiful wilderness, Blar took it upon himself to handle them. His trek slowly led him down away from his homeland and further into the land of men and organized communities. Blar still struggles with his communication, but pushes himself out of all comfort to prove his worth. He continues to compete with his self, trying to be the best, but starts to realize the appeal of having other's to measure against. Blar 'Kinless Bjorn knows he cannot return home until he has proven without a doubt that he is the best. He keeps the memory of his mother close to his heart, hoping to one day make her proud, and feel her embrace once more.
Views on the world:
Blar does not understand the structure of man, the weak hide in their castles claiming to rule while proving nothing. He scoffs at the notions of the weak rulling the strong. All he respects is strength and nature. In nature only the strong survive, so why don't the strong rise up and take their place above the weak that claim the title of king, or lordship. Honesty, honor, and healthy competition are the only things Blar recognizes. His limited social ability and understanding often leave him sticking out like a sore thumb in villages or towns. Blar has come to understand the benefit of trading and gold, which are only possible when he ventures out of the comfort of his wilderness home.
