Name: Temerity Sun
Aliases: Tema, although I am sure that people call her other things behind her back.
Race: Tiefling
Age: 25
Appearance and Style:
Temerity is tall and thin-thinner then looks healthy. It's fair to say that she probably doesn't get much in the way of nourishment by her tattered robes and shabby clothing. Her skin runs in shades of purple, from deep violet freckles that dot her cheeks to the bright lavender tone of her inner arm. Her hair is shades of black and purple, cut in a short shaggy style of someone who is not concerned about anything more than comfort. Her eyes are all over red, with a barely noticeable shift of color to delineate between her pupal, iris and sclera. Clearly devilish, horns of matte black curl back from her forehead, just above her eyes. They curve and twist skyward, and she has capped, ringed and decorated them, the way others do their ears. It's clear she takes care of them, keeping them moisturized and shinny. Almost as though she is proud of them?
She keeps a thin cloak tied around her throat and writs that drags behind her for short distance. Most of the time it blends in with her vestments, but when not at the temple, it's coves the pair of large wings that rest on her back. All of her clothing is modified to accommodate the wings, and so it's difficult to notice them unless she really wants you to see them.
Significant Qualities:
Temerity is reserved but irreverent. She has gained the quiet nobility one gains from constant torment without the inability to strike back, but never allowed that to grind them down. The beautiful stillness of someone who has made peace with their darkness. All of these traits are noticeable inside the The Spire of the Morning. Quietly confident. Friendly and helpful to all who seek her aide, priest or parishioner.
Outside of the temple, she is silent, reserved. Suspicious of most due to the experience of almost all of her previous experiences with strangers. The people in the temple are family, and so she is more guarded with people when she must leave the temple grounds.
Living Relatives:
Temerity still keeps in contact with Aloyna in Baulder's Gate. She will occasionally write to her.
Five Things Your Character Fears (in order from least afraid to most)
- Strangers. It's no more than a mild annoyance now in her life, but there was a time when she could have said that her biggest fear was meeting new people or having to deal with strangers.
- Something happening to the sister she was closest to, Aloyna. She understands that she's a paladin now, so that's something that will probably happen, but she still worries.
- Her birth parents find her. Whether it's on accident or they come looking for her, she has no desire to confront that part of her past. She's moved past it, is happy with accepting them as being gone. If they came back it would be difficult.
- The creature that spawned the darkness on her blood, in her soul, coming to look for her for any reason. I don't even quite think she understands that she fears this. I don't think she understands that this could be a thing. It's the unconscious fear that's just under the surface.
- Being consumed by her own darkness. This is the conscious fear, the thing that she has worked her entire life to overcome. It's finally something that she's "overcome", but it's new stability. It's a stability that has not yet been tested to any extent. So her biggest fear is losing that stability and having to start over, having to fight the desire to allow it to consume her.
Four Things Your Character Loves (in order from least to most)
- Studying and reading, especially about magic and the realms.
- Darkness and death. In her mind they go hand in hand and she just loves them. reading about them, studying them as concepts as well as events.
- The Church and acolytes of Lathander. Without them, she wouldn't be alive
- The small family of people that has built around her.
Temerity has only ever felt love in familial sense. She loves the priests and attendants that she works with like a close family. She lovers her sister. Tieflings live a long life though, and twenty-five years is a short period of time. If you wish to speak of trivial things that you "love" but really mean "like a lot" she enjoys darkness and reading, learning magic, and watching the interactions between people.
Three Things Your Character is Embarrassed About (in order from Least to Most)
Two Things Your Character Is Proud Of (in order from least afraid to most)
One Thing Your Character Would Kill Or Die For
Three Things Your Character is Embarrassed About (in order from Least to Most)
- Temerity is embarrassed about her body, as most twenty something people are. She keeps herself mostly covered at all times, though she's comfortable in the clothing she choses to wear.
- She doesn't allow people to know what she really truly loves studying. It's not something she shares openly. Whether that's embarrassment or not is unknown.
- Her Wings. She still isn't ready for the world to truly see her full winged formed. Hence the clothing and the cloak. She will say it's a matter of comfort, but really it's embarrassment about her body.
Two Things Your Character Is Proud Of (in order from least afraid to most)
- Her kindness. It's hard to be kind in the current world and is proud that she has remained/perhaps gotten more kind as she grown.
- Her personal self control. She knows that the darkness inside her could consume her completely, change her into an inhumane monster, but she will never allow that to happen and she is proud of her own sense of self. She knows she is good and that gives her the control she needs to thrive.
One Thing Your Character Would Kill Or Die For
- At the moment, Tema would go to war for the Temple of Lathander, if they asked her. If the cause was good enough. Just enough. She might consider revenge if something foul happened to Aloyna. She's not really had the sort of strong relationship that one need to engender that level of devotion. Perhaps in the future though, who knows.
Birth:
Temerity was born 25 years ago, in the lower ward of the Baldur's Gate. Amidst the poverty and destitution, her human parents were not prepared to take care of a devil child. The sisters at The Song of Morning Temple say that the the child they called Temerity Sun was left at their gates on the darkest night of Uktar, in the year of the Purloined Statue. They counted that day as the day of her birth, because that was the day that she became graces with by the light of Lathander.
Childhood:
Childhood in the orphanage was difficult but Tema found fulfillment in the toil. It was clear from the time she was 5 that she was precocious, that she stood out from her peers was an under statement. Her statue alone set her apart. Instead it was her kindness in the face of torment, using her gifts in service of those smaller then her. She became a protector of her peer, the children that she shared the orphanage with. For a short time they were a small family, and it was at this time she met Aloyna. The little Assamir girl was like her, but in such an opposite way. Perhaps that is what caused her to gravitate to her. They were inseparable until Temerity out grew the needs of the orphanage and was sent to Waterdeep to study magic at the Spires of the Morning with the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors.
Young Adult Life:
At the Spires of the Morning, Temerity Sun learned how to control the darkness that seemed to be a part of her soul. Waterdeep is as much a city of Magic as it is the City of Splendor, and so it was that the Clergy of Lathander sent to have Temerity taught to understand and control the dark magic that bloomed from her soul. She spent her days in the classroom learning from wizard teachers that wanted her to learn theory that made logical sense to her. At night she would test herself but unlocking her magic, trying spells that the read about the day before, attempting to form them from the darkness of her own soul. Eventually, the experimentation began to pay off and her natural talent stated to grow.
Where you are today:
Today, Temerity Sun is an Awakened in the Spires of the Morning. She spends her days tending to the needs of the priests and faithful that make their work and faith in the big temple in Waterdeep. She chose to keep the name the priests gave her from the temple in Beregost, in case she ever came across any of the children she was sister to as adults. Ever a black light in the world.

Views on the world:
How does your character feel about politics: Temerity has little knowledge of politics. Most of the interaction she has with the political elite of Waterdeep are in passing as they seek audience with the leadership of the Temple. The closest she came to something like that is the time she was in the main floor of the Spire when famed Inquisitor Viscard Crane walked through seeking aid from the head of the church. That's the closest she's come to having a brush with someone who wields power over politics and she isn't at all interested in more then that. It was..intimidating.
nobility: She pretty much feel the same about the Nobility as she does about politics and those that interact with that echelon of society- She doesn't think about them until they cross her path.
particular races: Race is a difficult subject for Tema, for obvious reasons. She was abandoned for her race, for who she is. That kind of wound, no matter of when it is inflicted, stays with you. Race colors her entire world interaction. Many of the children she allowed call sister were half bred like her. Orcs, Angels and Devils. How could she hold ill thought to the lizard folk or goblinkind?
the gods: The Gods and their faithful are the reason she was not left in the wilderness to starve after birth. She holds that they are the reason she lives and breaths and is able to follow her fate. How could she not believe? How could she not give her life to what They will? Like most Faeruanian, she is powerfully devout to Gods of the main pantheon. Because if her school, she understands that there are more forces at work in the Prime Material then just the Gods of Faerun.
Likes: Silence, Darkness, reading, magic. She's a simple creature who is not afraid of her inner "demon". She's still growing in her power, but she beyond the stage of "not sure about her inner darkness". She is very sure about her inner darkness and it does not scare her. Death is a fascinating friend to her and darkness her soulmate. She find simple pleasures in grim things, skulls and mushrooms, moths and vicious things. In that darkness we find the beauty of bioluminescence and stars and in that beauty we find Sun of Temerity.
Dislikes: Bullies, People with power who abuse their position, Willful ignorance, especially in the face of overwhelming evidence. Worldly injustice, but more personally, she dislikes the casual delight some people take in cruelty. Perhaps in the mirror that she feels when she sees someone indulge. Hate the game not the player?
